Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) offers real-time H.264 encoder for HD video

November 6, 2012, Vision 2012, Stuttgart, Germany — Matrox Imaging is announcing that the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL), an application development toolkit for image analysis, machine vision, medical imaging, and video analytics, now offers real-time H.264 encoding for high-definition (HD) video.

Software-based H.264 encoding

This software-based H.264 video encoder leverages the Intel® Quick Sync Video technology—first introduced in the second generation Intel® Core™ processor—to deliver real-time performance with moderate CPU usage for multiple HD video streams. The encoder, which is accessed via the MIL application programming interface (API), produces either an elementary stream or a common MPEG-4 Part 14 (MP4) format file. Matrox Imaging’s newest imaging computer, the Matrox 4Sight GP, relies upon the MIL H.264 encoder and the latest Intel® Core™ processor to provide a powerful, economical platform for next-generation medical imaging and surveillance systems.

About Matrox Imaging Library (MIL)

First released in 1993, Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) is a comprehensive collection of software tools for developing industrial imaging applications. MIL includes tools for every step in the process: from application feasibility, to prototyping, through to development and ultimately deployment. The toolkit features interactive software and programming functions for image capture, processing, analysis, annotation, display, and archiving. These tools are designed to enhance productivity, thereby reducing the time and effort required to bring solutions to market.

The H.264 video encoder is available as an update to MIL as part of the software maintenance program and will be integrated into the upcoming MIL 10 release.
