Summary of the position

The incumbent of the Programmer Analyst role is responsible for carrying out design and installation of IBM iSeries/ AS400 systems as part of the development/maintenance cycle as well as the day to day operations of existing systems.


  • Performs via mandate all the work inherent in the analysis, tests, programming and implementation of new systems and/or modification of existing systems;
  • Meets with users to define and clarify their needs and participates in the development of solutions;
  • Works closely with analysts to define the technical specifications of the solutions envisaged;
  • Ensures the quality of programs, documentation, user guides and respects the methodology as well as the norms and standards of development in force;
  • Recommends, if necessary, the modifications to be made to the applications and/or submits new ideas related to market trends and/or explores new technological tools in order to evolve our systems;
  • Participates in the planning and organization of various projects;
  • Participates in integrated tests and user tests.


  • Bachelor's or D.E.C. in computer science or equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 years of development experience with IBM iSeries/AS400;
  • Very good knowledge of RPG, RPG ILE, RPG 400, CL, DB2 SQL programming skills;
  • Be autonomous and demonstrate an ability to communicate with different stakeholders;
  • Excellent sense of customer service and good team spirit;
  • Excellent sense of organization and priority management and a great ability to work under pressure;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word);
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written);
  • Experience with Infor MAPICS XA would be an asset.
