Position summary:

Under the supervision of the Vice-President, Finance and the Divisional Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst performs various periodic and ad hoc accounting reports and analysis, supervises the Accounts Payables process, maintains schedules to support general ledger accounts, investigates variances and discrepancies, and documents accounting procedures and processes.

Responsibilities:

Period-end:
Review and analyze Gross Margin by division and legal entity, including review of inventory and sales transactions file, and report issues to Divisional Controller;

Review and analyze general ledger accounts related to inventory and gross margin and maintain related schedules;

Review sales and purchases reports used for analysis and period-end entries

ยทPrepare monthly GST-QST remittance and responding to audit requests.


Accounting reports:

Review R&D expenses by ensuring Project Accounting module reconciles to General Ledger and preparing periodic and ad hoc R&D expenditures reports;

Work with IT and other departments to standardize and automate accounting reports;

Complete various mandatory governmental surveys (Stats Canada);

Prepare year-end reports and handle requests from external auditors;

Assist Divisional Controller on ad hoc requests/projects.


Accounts Payable supervision:

Review and approve Accounts Payable invoice batches and vendor statement reconciliations;

Review and record period-end accruals;

Review periodically sub ledgers, payments and vendor masters.


Accounting procedures and processes:

Ensure all accounting procedures and processes are efficient, properly documented and applied consistently

Report deficiencies and improvement recommendations to Divisional Controller

Qualifications:

Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field;
  • 3-5 years experience in a corporate accounting/finance environment;
  • CPA designation (Canada);
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in Excel;
  • Experience with GP Dynamics and/or AS400 (MAPICS) is considered an asset;
  • Autonomous and attentive to details;
  • Strong analytical skills and capacity to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (French and English).
