AV-over-IP technology in today’s AV Industry

Rob Moodey talks with IABM (International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers) comparing how the AV industry is distributing 4K signals within buildings with the approaches being used by the broadcast world. Existing 1 Gbps networks are being used to support multiple 4k streams with bandwidth to spare. Perhaps unexpectedly, AV applications sometimes expose the need to move content featuring detail which needs to be sampled at 4:4:4. In this sense, ‘simple’ computer desktops can be more demanding to encode and stream than full motion video is. This is a scenario frequently met in control rooms, training environments and digital signage.

Video length: 4min 43s.
