Matrox shipping RoHS-compliant display controller boards for medical imaging

Matrox MED, RAD, TheatreVUE and AuroraVX Series feature RoHS-compliant versions

Montreal, Canada, July 18, 2006—Matrox Graphics Inc., the leading manufacturer of graphics solutions for professionals, today announced that many of its popular display controller boards, including the Matrox MED Series™, RAD Series™, TheatreVUE Series™ and AuroraVX Series™ have been shipping as RoHS-compliant boards over the last few months.

"We are happy to have transitioned to RoHS-compliant shipments over these past few months, providing our Partners and customers with the revised versions of the most popular Matrox display controller boards from all of our product lines which appropriately support either PCI or PCI Express solutions," says George Rigas, business development manager, medical imaging, Matrox Graphics. "Matrox is dedicated to providing quality medical imaging solutions that comply with global standards. Our transition to RoHS-compliant versions enables our customers to continue using existing configurations."

The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted a Directive on the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment, known as the RoHS Directive. The RoHS Directive will restrict placement on the EU market of electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, and PBDE as of July 1st, 2006.

Matrox RoHS-compliant medical display controller boards are form, fit and function equivalent to their non-RoHS-compliant counterparts, and are drop-in compatible. Existing Matrox software, drivers and graphic BIOS operate transparently with the RoHS-compliant versions. The RoHS compliant products provide the same level of quality, compatibility and reliability customers have come to expect from Matrox.
