See It Right with Matrox Bezel Displacement

Designed for digital signage professionals, Matrox Bezel Displacement provides image compensation for the physical border of display bezels. Images on multi-display, stretched desktop setups may look elongated or disproportioned because the image stops at the end of one screen and begins on the next. The distortion is caused by the physical space created by the bezels located between each pair of screens.
Matrox Bezel Displacement adjusts the display areas so images and text appear to pass behind the bezels. The feature allows you to adjust the image to compensate for the physical space between screens created by various bezel sizes.

Using Matrox Bezel Displacement

Bezel Displacement is a feature of Matrox PowerDesk 2.04-SE (and above) display driver software. Once PowerDesk is successfully installed, you can access the feature by clicking the PowerDesk icon (Bezel Displacement Feature in PowerDesk) on your Windows taskbar.¹

Example: Setting up a 2x2 display configuration:

  1. From the Bezel Displacement dialog box, click on the display to be adjusted. A square appears within the selected display and all effected displays are highlighted in green.

  1. Use the adjustment options to increase the vertical and/or horizontal seams, either in pixels, or as a percentage of the selected display. As the adjustment is made for particular seam, two diagonal lines move and adjust to form a perfectly aligned "X".

The total resolution of the desktop is enlarged to compensate
for the pixels that are beneath the display bezels.
  1. Monitors come in all shape and sizes, so different displays require different adjustments. When you are happy with the results, click OK to accept the changes, and the system is ready to go. 

    Note: In this example, after Bezel Displacement has been adjusted, the new effective resolution is 2650x1626. Content should now be designed for this enlarged resolution, or make sure your application allows content to scale to the new resolution.

The Matrox Bezel Displacement feature is available on the Matrox QID Series add-in graphics cards (QID LP PCIe, QID LP PCI, QID Pro and QID), as well as on the Matrox Extio Remote Graphics Units (Extio F1400 and F1420) upon request². Matrox Bezel Displacement supports landscape display orientation in both nx1 (horizontally aligned) and 2x2 stretched mode configurations.³

³ Maximum Matrox Bezel Displacement for any two adjoining bezels is limited to 25% of a single display resolution. For example, in a 2x2 stretched desktop with a resolution of 1360x768 per display, the maximum horizontal adjustment is 1360x.0.25=340 pixels across the pair of horizontal displays. The maximum vertical adjustment is 768x0.25=192 pixels across the pair of vertical displays. Matrox Bezel Displacement is not supported in Pivot mode, 1xn vertical display alignment or Joined graphics card mode. 1600x1200 resolution on QID cards is not supported with this feature.
