Lorne Trottier

Lorne Trottier, President & Co-Founder

Lorne M. Trottier is co-founder of Matrox. Since the company’s founding, Lorne has been the key player in the engineering aspect of the business, originating many of Matrox’s most prominent products. To this day, Lorne works closely with key managers and engineers and maintains an active role in product development and innovation activities at Matrox. In addition to his work in technology development at Matrox, Lorne has numerous other interests spanning various fields such as climate change, energy, astronomy and aerospace science. A benefactor, philanthropist, engineer, businessman, and visionary leader, Lorne has devoted his life’s work to advancing science and technology. In 2019, Lorne bought out his co-founding partner in Matrox and is now ready to lead Matrox through its next chapter.

Aron Klein

Aron Klein, Chief Operating Officer

Aron joined Matrox in 2016 as a Director. He worked closely with Lorne Trottier in the transaction that resulted in Lorne’s full acquisition of the company. After the close of the transaction, Aron maintained his role as Director of all the Matrox entities and assumed the COO role with the primary responsibility of overseeing operations of the company and implementing its business strategy. Prior to joining Matrox, Aron spent 12 years as a management consultant serving clients across many industries including IT, forestry, hospitality, retail, and consumer goods. He has held previous senior roles in financial analysis and IT management. Aron holds undergrad degrees in Finance, international business, and information systems design from McGill University and an MBA in Strategic Management from the Schulich School of Business. Outside of work, Aron enjoys running, catching a game of soccer or hockey, and spending time with his wife, two kids, and dog.

Charles Nadeau

Charles Nadeau, Chief Corporate Officer

Charles was a partner at the National Canadian law firm of Stikeman Elliott LLP for over 15 years. As a commercial litigator, he represented numerous companies, public and private. He also served on many of the firm’s management committees. A long-time personal advisor to Mr. Trottier, Charles joined him at Matrox in 2019 as Chief Corporate Officer, overseeing Legal, Finance, some operations and special projects. In 2016, Charles pursued leadership training through an intensive course at Harvard University. Charles was often recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada and Benchmark Canada, and he is a member of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation Board of Directors. Long time ago, Charles played hockey in Europe, and he is now an avid tennis player!

Alberto Cieri

Alberto Cieri, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Matrox Video

Alberto is Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Matrox Video. Prior to joining Matrox, Alberto was owner and president of Cieritech, an avionics consultancy. Since joining Matrox in 1991, Alberto has held a variety of different roles in Sales, including Sales Engineer, European Sales Manager, OEM Video Sales Manager, Worldwide Distribution Sales Manager, and Director of Sales (USA and EMEA). In these roles, Alberto has managed the Sales, Marketing, Applications Engineering, Technical Support, and Product Management teams. Alberto holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Concordia University. In his spare time, Alberto loves spending time with his family, golfing, skiing, playing hockey, going for a good run, and making his own wine.

Sam Lopez

Salvatore Lopez, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Matrox Imaging

Salvatore (Sam) is Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Matrox Imaging. Sam first joined Matrox in 1986 as a Hardware Design Engineer. In 1991, Sam made the move to Sales, joining a software start-up Mitech Computer Systems Inc. He returned to Matrox in 1996, assuming the role of European Sales Manager before becoming Manager of Sales & Marketing of the entire Imaging division in 2011. Over the course of his career, Sam has led Sales, Marketing, Applications Engineering, Technical Support, Software Quality Assurance, Product Management, and Technical Training teams. He was also President of the board of directors of the CPE Les Micropuces, Matrox’s in-house daycare center, for over 10 years. Sam holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Concordia University. He enjoys downhill skiing and cycling, and is a lover of music of many genres.

Laval Tremblay

Laval Tremblay, Vice President, Engineering, Matrox Imaging

Laval is Vice President of Engineering for Matrox Imaging. Prior to joining Matrox, Laval held different engineering positions at Mitel Semiconductors and Northern Telecom. In 1983, he joined the Matrox Hardware team as a Design Engineer, before advancing to numerous other engineering roles in the Imaging division, including Manager of Imaging, Group Director, Director of Projects, and Director of Engineering. He is responsible for the Hardware and Software Engineering, Research & Innovation, NPI, and Technical Writing teams. A member of the Quebec Order of Engineers, Laval holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal. From his debut at Matrox and to this day, Laval is known for spending his long summer vacation time canoeing the Canadian Central Arctic, away from the city.

Bruno Des Rosiers

Bruno Des Rosiers, Senior Vice President, Finance

As Senior Vice President of Finance at Matrox, Bruno oversees the company’s accounting, finance, treasury, and tax functions. Bruno has over 20 years of experience in various companies and industries, including other private technology companies. Bruno holds an Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from UQAM’s School of Management (ESG UQAM) and an MBA from Université de Sherbrooke. A chartered accountant, Bruno is also a member of the Quebec CPA Order. He’s a volunteer with the Québec chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) Canada. In his spare time, Bruno loves spending time with his family and volunteering as a coach for different children’s sports teams in his community. He also enjoys activities such as scuba diving, cycling, and hockey.

Vincent Khoury, Senior Vice President, Global Operations

Vincent is Senior Vice President of Global Operation. His responsibilities include the Supply chain, Manufacturing, PNPI, EMC/EMI lab, Financial Analysts, IT, Production Engineering & Continuous Improvement. Since joining Matrox, he was called upon and was promoted to head a variety of roles, including Corporate Systems Manager, Director of IT Infrastructure & Security, Marketing and Vice President of Cost Centers. Vincent holds a degree in IT /Computer Science and Industrial Automation.

Spiro Plagakis

Spiro Plagakis, Vice President, Sales Analytics

In his role as Vice President of Sales Analytics, Spiro is responsible for forecasting and reporting sales processes, as well as defining, implementing, and maintaining sales tools. A motivated and highly experienced Technology Sales Professional, Spiro has a long track record of successfully managing the growth of sales in organizations of all sizes. Prior to rejoining Matrox in 2020, he held numerous leadership positions, including VP Global Sales Operations at Grass Valley and Senior VP Worldwide Sales at Miranda. Spiro holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from McGill University. In his spare time Spiro enjoys cycling, cheering on his favorite teams, and sharing a good bottle of red wine with friends.

Isabelle Montpetit

Isabelle Montpetit, Senior Director, Human Resources

Isabelle is the Senior Director, Human Resources for the Matrox group of companies. She initially joined Matrox in 2006 as a Legal Counsel and, as of 2008, pursued her passion for Human Resources by orienting her career in HR management. In her role, Isabelle is responsible for all HR-related functions worldwide, including recruitment, employee recognition, compensation, benefits, performance management and providing, together with her team, HR support for over 700 employees. Isabelle holds a Civil Law degree from Université de Montréal and has been a member of the Quebec Bar Association since 1995. Prior to joining Matrox, she pursued a career at the law firm Alepin Gauthier as a Civil law litigator, with a focus on Family law and Labour law. She loves to travel, explore and discover new cities and countries with her family.

Sonia Di Sotto, Director, Legal Affairs

As Director of Legal Affairs for the Matrox Group of companies, Sonia oversees all legal and commercial contracts related to sales and manufacturing, including all IP matters. She has a substantial background in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial and IP agreements and provides legal advice and guidance to management on a broad range of legal matters. Sonia began her career as civil and criminal litigator in 2001 at Archambault and associates. She joined Matrox as Legal Counsel in 2004 and was appointed Senior Legal Counsel in 2015 up until she was promoted to Director, Legal Affairs in November 2020. Sonia holds a degree in Civil Law from Université de Montréal and has been a member of the Québec Bar since 2001.

David Chiappini Matrox

David Chiappini, Executive Vice President, Research & Development, Matrox Video

In July 2021, the Matrox family lost David Chiappini, a long-time friend, mentor, and leader. David was Executive Vice President of R&D for Matrox Video. He joined Matrox in 1994 as an intern and was hired as an ASIC designer in 1996 upon completing a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Concordia University. During his long career at Matrox, he held multiple roles where he demonstrated his ability to create unique work environments that combined innovation, engineering creativity, humor, and kindness. David was known for his passion for technology and innovation, and under his guidance as VP of R&D, Matrox grew its position as an industry leader in video technologies. A member of the Quebec Order of Engineers, in 2018 David was named chair of the ProAV Work Group at AIMS.
