Hotfix for installing Adobe Premiere 6.5 on your RT system

(August 16, 2002)

This hotfix copies the necessary Matrox Video Tools 3.1b files (and PRO Pack add-ons, if applicable) from your Premiere 6.0 folder to your Premiere 6.5 folder. You must have Matrox Video Tools 3.1b and Adobe Premiere 6.0 installed to run this hotfix.Do not uninstall Adobe Premiere 6.0 from your system.

To install this hotfix:

1. Install your Adobe Premiere 6.5 upgrade. It will install into a different directory than Adobe Premiere 6.0.
2. Download the following file:
   MVTPrem65hotfix.exe (24 KB)
   Netscape users Hold down the Shift key while selecting a file to download. This will allow you to specify a save path.
3. Double-click the downloaded file to run it.

Notes

• If you're using the Ligos LSX-MPEG LE plug-in for Premiere 6.0, you'll have to remove it and then re-install the plug-in so that Premiere 6.5 can recognize it.
• If you're using the Inscriber TitleExpress plug-in for Premiere 6.0, you'll have to re-install it to your Premiere 6.5 directory.
• If you later uninstall Premiere 6.0, you may be prompted about deleting shared files. Make sure that you select No to all in response to this prompt. If you delete the shared files, Premiere 6.5 won't work properly.

Matrox Video for Windows (VFW) software codecs

Install this software to render and play back RT2500-compatible .avi files using a Video for Windows program on a computer with no RT2500 hardware installed.

1. Download the following file to a directory of your choice:
   VFWSoftwareCodec.zip (2.8 MB)
   Netscape users Hold down the Shift key while selecting a file to download. This will allow you to specify a save path.
2. Once the files have been extracted, go to their folder and run Setup.exe. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Intel® Pentium® 4 Compatibility Test program v2.0

(August 3, 2001)

Only recent generations of the Intel® Pentium® 4 systems or motherboards are compatible with the RT2500. These are systems with the most recent version of the Intel® 850 chipset that contains the latest stepping of the Intel® 82801BA I/O Controller Hub 2 (ICH2). For your convenience, we have put together the following utility that tests a specific Intel® Pentium® 4 system and lets you know if its Intel® 850 chipset is compatible for use with a Matrox RT2500 card.

What's new in this release

This new version 2.0 of the utility will give accurate results when run on a non-English operating system.

Downloading the utility

The test can be run on a system with or without the RT2500 hardware installed. If your Pentium® 4 system is compatible with the RT2500, you must have Matrox Video Tools version 3.0 with Service Pack 1 or later installed. The following self-extracting file contains the Pentium® 4 Compatibility Test program v2.0 for use on your RT2500 system:

1. Download the following file:
   ValidateP4Chipset2.exe (20 KB)
   Netscape users Hold down the Shift key while selecting a file to download. This will allow you to specify a save path.
2. Double-click the file to run it.
3. Once the test is complete, a summary message displays whether your Pentium® 4 system is compatible with an RT2500.

The test will report one of the following conclusions:

• If the test results show that your system is compatible with the RT2500, then your system is equipped with the most recent version of the Intel® 850 chipset that contains the latest stepping of the Intel® 82801BA I/O Controller Hub 2 (ICH2), and should be compatible for use with the Matrox RT2500 card. As always, please refer to our RT2500 System Recommendation pages for system-specific compatibility information.
• If the test results show that your system is not compatible with the RT2500, you may want to contact your motherboard or system manufacturer to see if it would be possible to replace your motherboard with a more recent version that contains the latest revision of the Intel® 82801BA I/O Controller Hub 2. Please contact Intel for any questions regarding features and compatibility of the Intel® 82801 BA I/O Controller Hub 2 (ICH2).

Note The RT2000 is not affected by this limitation.

Flex 3D BIOS updater for use with non-Matrox display cards

(July 12, 2001)

This program updates your RT2500's Flex 3D BIOS, so that you can use non-Matrox graphics cards with your RT2500 under Windows Me.

Checking if you need this updater

Follow these steps to see if you need the updater:

1. Right-click the Windows desktop background, then choose Properties > Settings.
2. Under Display, select your Matrox RT2500.
3. Click the Advanced button, then the Information tab.
4. Under Graphics software (versions), your RT2500's BIOS version is displayed beside Graphics BIOS. If this version is earlier than 2.1-35, then you need to download this program and update your Matrox RT2500's BIOS, as explained below.

Downloading the updater

The following self-extracting file contains the PBiosWin updater for Windows Me:

1. Download the following file:
   PBIOS.exe (487 KB)
   Netscape users Hold down the Shift key while selecting a file to download. This will allow you to specify a save path.
2. Double-click the file to run it. You'll be prompted to Unzip the file to a default folder (c:\PBiosWin). Change this destination if you wish. Click the Unzip button to extract the files.
3. Once the files have been extracted, go to their folder and run PBIOSWin.exe. Follow the onscreen instructions. For detailed instructions, see the PBiosWin Installation Procedure.txt file that is included in the folder where you Unzipped the PBiosWin updater.
