Saving and applying your custom keyframes

Printer-friendly version (145 KB)

The keyframes you create on any track can be saved to a file and then applied to other clips in your production. Saving your custom keyframes lets you build a library of your own 2D and 3D effects that you can apply at any time and share with other Matrox RT.X users.

This tutorial shows you how to save transform keyframes to a file and load the file to apply your custom transform settings to another clip.

  1. Set up the Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline

Complete the tutorial Transforming a page curl, so that you have a customized page curl applied to a title on track Video 2, and a video clip on track Video 1.

  2. Display your page curl's settings

To display the settings for your page curl:

    1. Select the clip on track Video 2, then click the Setup button setup beside your effect in the Effect Controls window.
    2. Click the Transform tab. You should see the keyframes you created during the previous tutorial on the Transform track.
  3. Save your keyframes to a file

To save your transform keyframes to a file:

    1. Press Ctrl+S or right-click an empty area on the Transform track and choose Save Keyframes from the pop-up menu.

  4. Apply your custom keyframes to another clip

Once you've saved your keyframes to a file, you can later load that file to apply the keyframes to another clip in your production.

    1. Replace the graphic on track Video 2 with another graphic or title of your choice. You can use Adobe Title Designer to quickly create a new title, similar to the following one:

    2. Drag the Matrox Page Curls effect from the Video Effects bin in the Effects window onto the new title on track Video 2.
    3. Click the Setup button setup beside your effect in the Effect Controls window.
    4. In the displayed dialog box, click the Transform tab. Press Ctrl+O or right-click an empty area on the Transform track and choose Load Keyframes from the pop-up menu.
    5. In the dialog box that appears, select the keyframe file you saved in step 3, then click Open. Click OK to save your changes and return to the Timeline.
  5. Preview your effect in real time

Press the Play button in the Monitor window or press the Enter key on your keyboard to preview your transformed page curl in real time.
