Tested chipsets



This section lists chipsets that have been tested for use with a Matrox RT.X system. Matrox is continually validating newer chipsets, and will update this section on a regular basis.

Important  Be sure to check the individual compatibility information for the motherboard or system of your choice to see which display cards and sound cards have been tested with it,
as well as to read about any known issues.

Previously tested chipsets

1Using the onboard ICH6R controller in a RAID configuration is not supported in a Matrox RT.X system with an Intel 915, 925X, or 925XE chipset.
2In most cases, the onboard audio controller is not supported in a Matrox RT.X system with an Intel 945 or 955 chipset.
3You must use either the onboard audio device, or a Creative Technology audio card (such as a Creative Sound Blaster card), in a Matrox RT.X system with an Intel 7505 chipset. All other audio devices are incompatible.
4In order to use the Intel 7525 chipset, you must download and install the Matrox RT.X Patch for Intel 7525 Chipset.

1 These VIA chipsets for Intel and AMD processors are not recommended for use with a Matrox RT.X system because they do not work well when editing or playing back segments on the Timeline that contain two video layers, one graphics layer, and a 3D effect. These chipsets have all demonstrated a PCI bandwidth limitation when reading from host memory (RAM). This is seen when heavy PCI bandwidth (such as for video, graphics, and effects) is required by several PCI devices at the same time.
