System requirements

Matrox MXO2 requires a Mac system or Apple Xserve system with the following configuration:

Important:  Not all of the operating systems and programs listed below are supported on all versions of MXO2. For supported operating systems and programs, refer to the software download page specific to your version of MXO2. Click here to view the available MXO2 software downloads.

  • Intel-based Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, iMac, or Apple Xserve.
  • Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard, or Lion.
  • One free PCIe slot to install the Matrox PCIe host adapter (for desktops), or one free ExpressCard/34 slot to install the Matrox PCIe host ExpressCard/34 adapter (for laptops), or one free Thunderbolt port to connect the Matrox MXO2 Thunderbolt adapter.
    Note: An Apple Thunderbolt cable purchased from Apple is required to connect the Matrox MXO2 Thunderbolt adapter to your computer.
  • We recommend an HDMI monitor that supports the following:
    • An HDMI input resolution of 1920x1080 for previewing all HD formats.
    • 1:1 pixel mapping for displaying your MXO2 output at its exact resolution, and for use with the Matrox HDMI Calibration Utility.
  • Supported programs:
  • - Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion, Color, Soundtrack Pro, iTunes, and GarageBand.
    - Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore, Photoshop, Soundbooth, Prelude, and
      Flash Media Live Encoder.
    - Roxio Toast.
    - CPC MacCaption.
    - Boinx Software BoinxTV.
    - Softron MovieRecorder, OnTheAir Video, and OnTheAir Video Express.
    - ToolsOnAir Just:In.
    - Boris FX Media 100 Suite.
    - Avid Media Composer.
    - Telestream Wirecast.
    - QuickTime Broadcaster.
    - For Matrox MAX H.264 encoding:
    • Apple Compressor (required for Blu-ray Disc).
    • Apple QuickTime Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Encore, Adobe Media Encoder, Apple Motion, Apple Qmaster, Telestream Episode and Episode Pro, Boris FX Media 100 Suite, or other QuickTime-based video applications.
