Closed captioning

Matrox MXO2 devices and Mojito MAX support closed captioning with Final Cut Pro on the Mac and Adobe Premiere Pro on the PC.

Closed captioning support with Final Cut Pro

All Matrox MXO2 products and Mojito MAX support NTSC closed captioning with Final Cut Pro.

Matrox MXO2 LE, MXO2, MXO2 Rack MAX and Mojito MAX also provide HD-SDI closed captioning support using the patent-pending Matrox 4VANC tool. You will no longer need to spend time and money recreating HD captioning data that is typically lost when editing projects in Final Cut Pro. The unique Matrox workflow lets you capture, playback, and preserve closed captioning data while editing. Nothing is destroyed even when trimming or color correcting
video clips.

In addition, Matrox has worked with CPC, the closed captioning software leader, to develop an innovative solution that allows the MacCaption software to encode, decode, edit, and create HD and SD closed captioning for use with the Matrox MXO2 SDI-capable devices and Mojito MAX. They also provide a cost effective way to monitor HD timelines containing closed captioning data on SDI and component SD monitors, while also inserting closed captioning information into line 21 of active video for SD deliverables. You can deliver HD and SD masters containing closed captions simultaneously.

Closed captioning support with Adobe Premiere Pro on the PC

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 lets you attach a closed caption data file to a sequence and display the closed captions in the Program Monitor and through Firewire DV output. Compatible file types are described as .mcc and .scc files for use in DTV (CEA-708) and SD (CEA-608) transmissions respectively.

Matrox MXO2 LE, MXO2, MXO2 Rack MAX, and Mojito MAX can add appropriately formatted closed captioning data to line 21 of analog SD outputs for monitoring and print-to-tape. They can also let you use standard (non-closed captioning enabled) monitors to preview HD timelines with closed captioning data by overlaying decoded closed captioning text over the previewed video. This is the ideal cost-effective way to see your closed captions, even when you're using an inexpensive HDMI display as your program monitor.

Matrox MXO2 LE, MXO2, MXO2 Rack MAX, and Mojito MAX can also embed closed captioning data in SDI streams in accordance with the above specifications and let you simultaneously deliver HD-SDI and analog SD masters containing closed captions.
