Vizrt Selects New Matrox DSX Developer Card for Upgrade of Viz Engine Realtime Graphics and Video Renderer

Montreal, Canada – September 3, 2008 – Matrox® Products Group today announced that Vizrt, the world's leading provider of realtime 2D and 3D broadcast graphics, has chosen the Matrox X.mio2 card, part of the Matrox DSX family of developer products, to provide video and audio I/O for the next generation of the Viz Engine 3D rendering engine. Viz Engine is the heart of all Vizrt graphics solutions (CG, Virtual Set, Weather, etc.). In addition to HD and SD input and output, Matrox X.mio2 will provide many advanced features including on-board color space conversion and multi-layer HD and SD compositing as well as the ability to play uncompressed video clips and compressed clips in MPEG and DVCPRO. All of the Vizrt products can be seen at IBC 2008 on stand 2.B31. The Matrox DSX product line will be demonstrated on stand 7.B29.

"It was an easy choice for us to port Viz Engine from the Matrox X.mio card to the new Matrox X.mio2 card," said Christian Huber, Head of Vizrt Austria. "We have given added value to our customers with more inputs and more layers of HD and SD scaling and compositing. Matrox's common interface made the process quick and simple and Matrox provided superior application support along the way."

About Viz Engine
Primarily, Viz Engine is used to render graphics animations for live TV programs, but can be equally applied to post-production, webcasting, digital signage and other non-broadcast large scale displays. Viz Engine has an open control interface allowing users to integrate their proprietary control software. Viz Engine supports a command language which allows almost all graphic features to be controlled or changed on the fly from external applications. These control possibilities include editing of text, images, materials, 2D and 3D objects, audio, animations, videos, and many other effects. Viz Engine systems support up to four live video inputs which can be embedded in any graphics animations or virtual studio sets. Viz Engine also supports scaling of performance by clustering multiple systems.

The new Viz Engine 3 has been expanded to provide advanced scripting and interactivity together with enhanced features and performances. Viz Engine 3 is the core component of the whole Vizrt products platform. It is the ideal creative run-time environment for broadcasters and media companies.
