Vizrt Selects Matrox DSX Developer Platform as Core of Realtime Graphical Solutions
Montreal, Canada, April 20, 2006 - Matrox Video Products Group today announced that Vizrt, the world's leading provider of realtime 2D and 3D broadcast graphics, has chosen the Matrox X.mio card, part of the Matrox DSX family of developer products, to provide video and audio I/O for the Viz|Engine 3D rendering engine. Viz|Engine is the heart of all Vizrt graphics solutions (CG, Virtual Set, Weather, etc.). In addition to HD and SD input and output, Matrox X.mio will provide many advanced features including on-board color space conversion and compositing as well as the ability to play uncompressed video clips and compressed clips in MPEG and DVCPRO. All of the Vizrt products can be seen at NAB 2006 in booth SL1323."We have evaluated video I/O boards from all the big vendors on the market and Matrox X.mio definitely turned out to be the best in terms of performance as well as features. It lets us enhance the feature set of our HD platform to a level which formerly was only possible in SD resolutions," said Christian Huber, Head of Vizrt Austria. "By selecting the Matrox X.mio multi-format card we have given added value to our customers as they can upgrade their SD systems to HDTV at any time without the need to change the hardware."
About Viz|Engine
Primarily, Viz|Engine is used to render graphics animations for live TV programs, but can be equally applied to post-production, webcasting, and non-broadcast large scale displays. Viz|Engine has an open control interface allowing users to integrate their proprietary control software. Viz|Engine supports a command language which allows almost all graphic features to be controlled or changed on the fly from external applications. These control possibilities include editing of text, images, materials, 2D and 3D objects, audio, animations, and many other effects. Viz|Engine systems support up to four live video inputs which can be embedded in any graphics animations or virtual studio sets. Viz|Engine supports scaling of performance by clustering multiple systems.
