Visual Research Inc. Exploits the Power of Matrox DSX Developer Products in VisualCG 3D Realtime Broadcast Graphics System
Montreal, Canada, April 1, 2008 - Matrox® Video Products Group today announced that South Korea-based Visual Research Inc. has adopted the Matrox DSX™ platform as the hardware engine for VisualCG 3D, its professional realtime HD/SD 3D character generator with advanced 2D/3D titling and motion graphics effects. VisualCG 3D is used by terrestrial and cable broadcasters and post-production facilities.to create sophisticated televison graphics and titles quickly and easily. MBC, one of the largest commercial broadcasters in South Korea, used VisualCG 3D for the successful HD broadcast of the 17th presidential election in December 2007.
"Thanks to the outstanding performance of VisualCG 3D, we successfully accomplished the live HD broadcast of the 17th presidential election. VisualCG 3D was used as a main CG system for producing graphics and titles for candidate rank prediction, ballot counting, and identification of the president-elect," said Mr. J. W. Koo, video engineer at MBC. "Because VisualCG 3D itself features internal mixing and supports multi-format movie clips, we could go to air without an additional digital disc recorder system."
"We chose the Matrox DSX cards for their multi-format HD/SD codec support in software and their fast rendering compared to other I/O boards," said Charles Kim, president of Visual Research Inc. "In addition, stability is critical in CG systems since failure during a broadcast could be disastrous. The Matrox X.mio cards have been excellent in terms of reliability."
At NAB 2008, Visual Research Inc.'s products will be shown in booth SL7428. The Matrox DSX product line will be demonstrated in booth SL320.
