Vector 3 VECTORBOX 6000 and 8000 HD Playout Systems Based on Matrox DSX Platform
Playout automation systems with built-in video servers exploit Matrox's "Power of X" architecture and the explosive performance of dedicated hardware to deliver cost-effective, high performance solution to broadcast facilities
IBC 2005, Amsterdam, September 2005 - Matrox Video® Products Group today announced that Vector 3 has adopted the Matrox X.mio multi-channel input/output card, part of the Matrox DSX family of HD and SD video and audio components, for its new VECTORBOX 6000 and 8000 HD standard and high definition range of playout systems. VECTORBOX systems provide everything a channel needs to go digital including master control room automation, graphics, and a built-in video server - all from 4 rack units. Key features include tapeless workflow with all brands of DV-based NLE, multi-compression codecs including IMX, and support for scheduling, telephone voting/SMS, newsroom and other external systems. The Vector 3 solutions will be demonstrated on the Vector 3 stand 7.201 and the Matrox stand 7.128.
"We have developed with the Matrox DSX platform because we see Matrox as being a key player in bringing innovative hardware and software technologies to the broadcast industry," said Roman Ceano, Vector 3 general manager. "This platform has proved to be a springboard for improving our system performance with direct media ingest and playout from a shared NAS storage over a Gigabit LAN and more powerful graphics, to name but two examples. Sealed black box servers and proprietary video storage systems are clearly no longer the ideal way to build broadcast-quality video equipment. Computer-based technologies, as epitomized by VECTORBOX on the Matrox DSX platforms, provide more cost-effective and flexible solutions."

| About Vector 3 products One of the key advantages of the VECTORBOX 6000 and 8000 range is ultra-fast connectivity. The new systems allow media to be ingested and then played to air directly from a shared NAS storage over a Gigabit LAN. This feature will benefit broadcasters who are looking for a low cost shared media environment with reduced time to air and without the need for a SAN. System-wide information and media access in this shared media environment is managed by the new V-BOX Traffix media asset management system. This end-to-end broadcast management solution covers all key operational areas including programme asset management, scheduling, browsing, advertising and sales in one tightly integrated package. Other new products on display include VECTORBOX Tatamia - a turnkey system for the highly competitive interactive TV and music channel market and featuring SMS, MMS, E-mail and telephone voting with enhanced graphics for dynamic channel branding. About Vector 3 Based in Barcelona, Spain, Vector 3 has been a leading broadcast equipment supplier and integrator since 1984. The original VECTORBOX, was released in 1995 and immediately became the standard automation for the numerous and varied channels that make up the Spanish broadcast industry. In early 2004 the 400th VECTORBOX channel went on air and the system was awarded the 'Best Content Delivery Product' prize by the Industry at Broadcast '03.
