Tornado 3D Realtime 3D Character Generator from Visual Research Inc. based on Matrox DSX Platform
NAB 2005, Las Vegas, April 15, 2005 - Matrox Video Products Group today announced that Seoul, Korea-based Visual Research Inc. has adopted the Matrox DSX platform for its new Tornado 3D realtime 3D character generator. Designed for HD and SD broadcast facilities, Tornado 3D provides realtime 3D titling in HD resolutions and realtime 3D transition effects such as particles, page curls, and distortions."HDTV is in full deployment in Korea and Japan and broadcasters have been waiting for a realtime HD CG application such as Tornado 3D. Thanks to the advanced Matrox DSX hardware and software development tools, and superior support from the Matrox application engineering team, we have been able to develop this high-performance product in record time," said Charles Kim, president of VRi. "We particularly appreciate the speed at which we can transfer video and graphics to and from the host computer due to Matrox's memory centric architecture and their PCI-X hardware. We also rely on the fact that the Matrox DSX platforms support HD and SD on one card, that we can have two full CG channels on one card, and that a realtime 3D effects option is available."
