Pro-Bel Exploits the Power of the Matrox DSX Developer Platform in the Morpheus Integrated Content Engine

Montreal, Canada, April 1, 2008 - Matrox® Video Products Group today announced that Pro-Bel, has chosen the Matrox X.mio2 card, part of the Matrox DSX™ line of developer products, as the hardware engine for its Morpheus Integrated Content Engine. Morpheus ICE is a self contained and fully scalable playout automation system with a fully featured video/audio mixer with built-in video and audio clip playing facilities. Each physical unit provides sufficient functionality for one broadcast transmission channel. Multiple units can be connected to network-attached storage.

"Pro-Bel is delighted to have partnered with Matrox on this leading edge project. Both our companies share a proven track record in delivering innovative and workable solutions to the broadcast industry," said Dave Collins, Pro-Bel chief technical officer. "Morpheus Automation continues to be a hugely successful product for Pro-Bel. Its level of flexibility allows us to easily address some of the most demanding playout requirements and the development of Morpheus ICE allows us to offer this same level of flexibility to customers looking for an integrated playout platform either for some or all of their channels. Having access to the wealth of experience that Matrox have with the X.mio2 card is key to achieving this progression."

"Matrox X.mio2 is particularly beneficial in that it has a feature-rich API that allows Pro-Bel previously unavailable integration from a playout device point of view. It comes with a fully functioning library of existing media codecs, removing the need to transcode content prior to playout, which is often a workflow bottleneck. The Matrox hardware platform is suitably flexible enough to easily provide the functionality expected from traditional Master Control."

Morpheus ICE will be shown at NAB 2008 in the Pro-Bel booth SU12712. The Matrox DSX product line will be demonstrated in the Matrox booth SL320.

About Morpheus ICE
Morpheus ICE is fully integrated into the very core of Morpheus Automation. It can be added to existing systems as easily as it can be deployed to new facilities. When deployed to provide channel playout, external devices can be added around Morpheus ICE to provide additional functionality. It is possible to mix channels of Morpheus ICE with channels architected using traditional multi-vendor playout devices. Morpheus provides a unified control interface irrespective of the channel architecture deployed. Because Morpheus ICE uses standard codecs to play out video, audio, and graphics; no transcoding of media is required when deployed into existing systems.
