Matrox to Offer Panasonic P2 Workflow on Axio Realtime HD/SD Editing Systems

Montreal, Canada, April 19, 2006 - Matrox® Video Products Group today announced that the next release of software for the Matrox Axio™ realtime HD and SD editing platforms will provide realtime native editing of OP-Atom standard MXF files captured using Panasonic P2 devices. DVCPRO, DVCPRO 50, and DVCPRO HD will all be supported. The integration of P2 with Matrox Axio will be demonstrated at NAB 2006 in the Matrox booth SL1137.

"Matrox Axio users will be able to transfer native P2 MXF files into their editing system, then mix them with a variety of other native HD and SD media and AVI files on an HD or SD timeline in real time, said Ankit Patel, Matrox Axio product manager. "This smooth workflow and interoperability eliminates inefficient, time-consuming file and codec transcoding and effects rendering. It also simplifies integration with various broadcast equipment and eases file management in networked environments by eliminating file recompression to match timeline formats."

"Following the launch of the Panasonic HVX200 Memory Card Camera-Recorder, DVCPRO HD P2 is rapidly expanding throughout the video creation industry, " said Mr. Shimozuru, Panasonic Director of Professional AV System B.U.   "We are pleased that Adobe Premiere Pro users will now be able to edit P2 content natively through the integration of the Matrox Axio hardware. With Axio's full range of video I/O capabilities, P2 customers will have many flexible editing workflow choices."

The Matrox Axio family of products makes Adobe® Premiere® Pro the foremost realtime HD and SD editor for demanding broadcast and post-production environments.
