Comments
Installing the default USB drivers from the manufacturer's CD will detect the ASUSTeK Enhanced USB controller. This driver causes the device to constantly poll the memory, using up too much PCI bandwidth. The proper drivers are the NEC USB 2.0 drivers. These can be installed by using the "Windows Update" feature.

To install the NEC USB 2.0 drivers:
1.In Windows XP, choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > System. In Windows 2000, choose Start > Settings > Control Panel, and double-click System.
2.On the Hardware page, click Device Manager.
3.In the Universal Serial Bus controllers folder, right-click Asustek Enhanced USB controller, then choose Uninstall from the pop-up menu.
4.Restart your computer. The "Add New Hardware Wizard" will appear upon startup. Click Cancel or press ESC to close the Wizard.
5.Re-open the Control Panel. In Windows XP, choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. In Windows 2000, choose Start > Settings > Control Panel, then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
6.Click Add New Programs, then click Windows Update.
7.Click Scan for updates, then click Driver Updates.
8.Locate the NEC USB 2.0 drivers, then click Add. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the new drivers. Restart your computer if prompted.
