Expansion slot numbering at Matrox

All Matrox cards are installed in your computer's expansion slots. Most computers currently manufactured have an AGP slot and several PCI slots (such as PCI-X slots, PCI Express slots, and 32-bit PCI slots). The different types of slots are usually of contrasting color.

While some computer motherboards have numbered slots, these do not follow any standard industry convention. In addition, one computer may have an AGP slot, four 32-bit PCI slots, and two PCI-X slots, whereas another may have no AGP slot, three 32-bit PCI slots, and two PCI Express slots, and so on. With this in mind, we've developed a numbering scheme for identifying each slot position.

From the computer's CPU, begin counting the PCI slots consecutively (for example, 1, 2, 3, etc.). In the following diagram, there are four 32-bit PCI slots and two PCI-X slots:
