DigiSuite MAX-compatible VTRs
with RS-422 device control

This section provides information about all VTRs that support RS-422 device control which have been tested by Matrox and are compatible with DigiSuite MAX and DigiUtils 7.2. Matrox will test new VTRs as they become available, so please check this section frequently for updated information.

Note: The results are based on reports from customers and in-house tests performed at Matrox. Although the values specified are precise in most cases, we cannot guarantee frame accuracy.

Reading the test results

We've tested VTRs from the manufacturers Ampex, JVC, Panasonic, Sierra Design Labs, Sony, and Thomson Pro. VTRs are listed in tables with relevant results from our tests. To read definitions of the table headings in a pop-up window, simply click on any of the headings.

Comments and configuration details

For some of the VTRs in each list, we've provided comments on their specific operation with DigiSuite MAX as well as any essential configuration details. When such information exists for a particular VTR, you can click on the model to read the details in a window. If you want to print out the information for later reference, you can do so using the link provided at the bottom of the window. The following are some basic guidelines for successful RS-422 device control:

1. Make sure that your VTR is set to Remote mode and not Local.
2. The remote interface for your VTR must be set to 9-Pin. See your VTR's instruction manual for details on how to set this option.
3. If your VTR supports multiple video standards, make sure you select the video standard that matches your tape and Matrox DigiSuite MAX system.
4. Make sure that you have the appropriate cable and adapter for your equipment.
