Matrox Imaging now shipping a 3U CompactPCI® version of the Matrox Meteor-II/Multi-Channel frame grabber

June 5, 2001, Montreal, Canada - A 3U CompactPCI® version of the low-cost Matrox Meteor-II/Multi-Channel frame grabber for monochrome or component RGB interlaced/progressive scan video acquisition is now available from Matrox Imaging.

Part of the Matrox Meteor-II family of high performance frame grabbers, the Matrox Meteor-II/Multi-Channel for CompactPCI® combines extensive functionality with unprecedented value in a frame grabber. Suitable for use in harsh industrial environments and deeply embedded applications, this board is designed to capture from analog interlaced or progressive frame scan component RGB, two-channel (double speed) analog progressive frame scan monochrome cameras, or multiple standard (RS-170/CCIR) monochrome cameras. Hardware trigger support is available for use in machine vision applications requiring synchronization to external events.

Common to all Matrox Meteor-II boards is the custom-designed Matrox Video Interface ASIC (VIA) - a sophisticated memory controller for managing real-time acquisition into onboard memory with advanced reformatting capabilities and, in parallel, streaming image data out over the PCI bus without requiring constant host CPU intervention. The Matrox Meteor-II/Multi-Channel for CompactPCI® can transfer acquired images to either system (host CPU) memory for processing or display (VGA) memory for live video-in-a-window at sustained rates up to 130 MB/second.

In addition to the CompactPCI® version, Matrox Meteor-II/Multi-Channel is also available for PCI or PC/104-Plus form factors. Key features of these boards include sampling rates up to 30 MHz, three 256 x 8-bit LUTs, connection of two RGB or up to six monochrome video sources, plus trigger input and timer outputs, a PCI bus-master, extensive on-board buffering for reliable capture, support for packed or planar transfers of color or multiple monochrome streams, and more.

Available software is sold separately and includes Matrox Imaging Library (MIL)/ActiveMIL, MIL-Lite/ActiveMIL-Lite and Matrox Inspector. The Matrox Meteor-II/Multi-Channel for CompactPCI® offers support for Microsoft® Windows® 98, Windows NT® 4.0 and Windows® 2000.
