Increased capability, same low cost with enhanced 4Sight-II
Matrox Imaging's integrated industrial computer now offers Windows® CE support, more power with the Celeron 850MHz and double the amount of RAM
VISION 2001, Stuttgart, Germany, October 9, 2001 – As announced today at Vision 2001, Matrox Imaging is offering enhancements to its integrated industrial computer, the Matrox 4Sight-II, at no extra cost. Now offering Windows CE support, improved performance with the Celeron 850MHz and double the amount of RAM, the 4Sight-II provides developers with a powerful tool for building high-performance and cost-sensitive machine vision, medical imaging and video surveillance applications.
Why Windows® CE?
"Windows CE is a real-time operating system (RTOS) with many benefits," says Fabio Perelli, Matrox Imaging's Product Manager for Stand-alone Systems. "Offering hard real-time capabilities, Windows CE guarantees maximum latency for response to interrupts, offers fast boot-up and immediate shutdown. Windows CE costs less to license than Windows NT and has a smaller memory footprint, also resulting in lower costs. And, thanks to its familiar Windows environment, it is easy to program. All of this results in improved time to market and decreased costs for all involved."
Integrating image capture, processing, display, networking and general purpose I/Os, the 4Sight-II running Windows CE is based on Windows CE 3.0 and supports Ethernet as well as the serial and parallel port interfaces, and the USB interface for mouse and keyboard. It also runs from hard or flash disk.
Available with the 4Sight-II under Windows CE is a version of the latest release of the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) software development toolkit for image processing, analysis, display and archiving. MIL/MIL-Lite for Windows CE supports the Meteor-II, Meteor-II/Multi-Channel, Orion/STD and Orion/RGB frame grabbers, as well as auxiliary I/Os and automatic tracking of live image display with graphics overlay.
