Matrox Imaging announces FCC/CE Class B certification for 4Sight-II
August 28, 2001, Montreal, Canada - Matrox Imaging recently announced that its 4Sight-II integrated industrial computer is now compliant with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's Part 15 Class B and European CE Class B regulations for digital devices.
Already compliant with the Class A standard for "heavy" industrial applications, this more rigorous electromagnetic compatibility standard means that the 4Sight-II is now certified for domestic, office, laboratory and light industrial applications.
Electromagnetic compatibility is defined as "the ability of equipment to function satisfactorily in its electromagnetic environment without introducing intolerable disturbances to devices, equipment or systems in that environment." The Class A standard, for example, ensures that electronic control systems can be used in conjunction with motor drives, high-frequency ovens, welding equipment, etc., in a "heavy" industrial environment. The Class B standard, for example, ensures that in a residential or hospital environment, an electronically controlled wheelchair will function normally even when the person sitting in the chair uses a mobile phone or a portable PC.
"Ensuring compliance with Class B regulations greatly facilitates the use of the 4Sight-II in medical imaging applications," says Fabio Perelli, Matrox Imaging's Product Manager for Stand-alone Systems. "This is part of our overall effort to make sure that our customers using 4Sight-II computers in their machine vision, image analysis and medical imaging applications are able to comply with both Class A and Class B regulations, with minimal effort."
