Interact with Matrox Inspector 3.1
Enhanced version of Matrox Imaging's interactive scientific/industrial imaging software includes OCR, bar and matrix code recognition and watershed-based image segmentation
December 11, 2000, Dorval, Montreal, Canada - Matrox Imaging today announced its latest software release - Matrox Inspector 3.1. This version of the field-proven interactive imaging software for scientific and industrial applications adds new and enhanced functionality to its comprehensive feature set.
Matrox Inspector 3.0
With Matrox Inspector 3.1, users can automatically or manually perform segmentation of touching objects using the interactive watershed tool.
Matrox Inspector is a Microsoft® Windows® application for image capture, processing, analysis, display and archiving. Based on the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) software development toolkit, Matrox Inspector 3.1 provides point-and-click access to an extensive set of optimized functions for image processing, blob analysis, gauging and measurement, as well as pattern matching.
Matrox Inspector 3.1
Also new to Matrox Inspector 3.1 is the ability to read rotated, scaled and degraded bar and matrix code symbologies with results displayed in tabular format. Users can also generate bar and matrix code based on a custom string. In this image, you'll notice the new workspace pane which provides an at-a-glance overview of all documents and systems in use.
New features
New in version 3.1 are easy-to-use interactive tools for OCR, bar and matrix code recognition and watershed-based image segmentation. This latest release also adds support for image capture using Matrox Orion and Matrox Meteor-II/1394 boards, and image compression/decompression using the Matrox Meteor-II MJPEG add-on module. Matrox Inspector now runs under Microsoft® Windows® 2000 as well as Windows® 98 and Windows NT® 4.0. Additional enhancements include workspace management tools that further increase user productivity.
Matrox Inspector 3.1
Read and verify a string of characters using Matrox Inspector 3.1's OCR tool. Users can calibrate fonts from an image and save as a MIL MFO font file.
Developers and end-users
Matrox Inspector is designed to meet the needs of MIL developers and end-users such as scientists, technicians and engineers in the areas of off-line industrial inspection, microscopy, medical visualization and biological analysis, to name a few. Developers using MIL utilize Inspector as a companion tool to facilitate development of their machine vision, image analysis or medical imaging applications. Pattern match models, calibration settings, automatic edge markers and OCR fonts created using Inspector can be directly employed in MIL/MIL-Lite and ActiveMIL/MIL-Lite applications. This allows developers to quickly build proof-of-concept demonstrations for their systems, enjoying the point-and-click ease in testing their design ideas.
End-users, on the other hand, rely on Matrox Inspector to perform and automate image enhancement and measurement tasks. These users benefit from the software's extensive functionality, its statistics gathering and productivity tools as well as the Microsoft® Visual Basic® for Applications compatible scripting environment. All information is easily exported to Microsoft® Excel and other Windows® applications for further analysis and for generating reports.
