Matrox Optimizes Interactive Scientific/Industrial Imaging Software for Intel MMX Technology and Adds Support for New PCI Frame Grabbers
April 28, 1998, Montreal, Canada - Matrox Imaging today announced availability of Matrox Inspector version 2.2, with optimizations for Intel MMX technology
and support for new Matrox PCI frame grabbers.
Matrox Inspector is an interactive Microsoft Windows 95/NT scientific and industrial imaging package that contains a complete set of functions for image capture, processing, blob analysis,
gauging/measurement, and pattern recognition/matching. Typical application areas include off-line industrial inspection, microscopy, medical visualization, image cataloguing and biological analysis.
Intel MMX technology works to speed up several classes of operations used in scientific/industrial image processing such as neighborhood operations like
convolutions and morphology; point-to-point class operations like arithmetic; and higher level algorithms like pattern matching/recognition.
New support in Matrox Inspector 2.2 for Matrox Meteor II, Matrox Corona and Matrox
Genesis-LC PCI frame grabbers means an even greater selection of Matrox image capture hardware for digitizing video (images) in real
time from a variety of sources such as analog, digital, color and monochrome cameras.
In addition to a host of operations for color and monochrome image manipulation and analysis, Matrox
Inspector supports region of interest (ROI) processing and image annotation. Its ability to automate routines using a script recorder as well as image
archiving and retrieval functionality further increase its appeal to a host of users.
Developers can use Matrox Inspector as a prototyping tool to quickly build proof-of-concept demonstrations for their vision and
imaging systems; enjoying the point-and-click ease in testing and validating their algorithm design ideas.
Matrox Inspector also meets the needs of end-users: scientists, technicians, engineers and anyone else who needs to extract precise measurements, as well as other information
from images. These users will benefit from the software's extensive functionality, as well as statistics gathering and productivity tools. All
information is easily exported to other packages like spreadsheets and word processors for further analysis and generating reports.
Established in 1976, Matrox is a privately owned Canadian company based in Dorval, Quebec. The
Matrox Imaging division designs, manufactures, markets and sells high-performance, PC-based vision/imaging hardware and software. Customers
include OEMs, system integrators and professional users worldwide who build or retrofit machine vision, medical imaging, and image analysis systems. Products
range from standard PCI frame grabbers to real-time, scalable, PCI image processors; and application software development packages and interactive imaging tools.
