The release of the new Matrox 2.03 SE driver brings with it new and exciting features for the digital signage community. Building on the features contained in the previous Matrox 2.02 SE driver, the Matrox 2.03 SE driver adds support for “mixed pairs” of resolutions on the Matrox QID PCIe, QID AGP and QID LP PCI* quad graphics cards as well as 1x"n" vertical display alignment support on all QID graphics cards.

"Mixed Pairs"
The "mixed pairs" feature enables each pair of displays the ability to support different resolutions, refresh rates, and orientations at the same time. For example, the image below shows the Matrox QID PCIe where the first pair of displays are positioned in pivot orientation at a resolution of 1280x768 and refresh rate of 60Hz, while the second pair of displays are positioned in landscape orientation at a resolution of 1280x960 and a refresh rate of 75Hz. This feature not only provides you with the flexibility to adapt your displays to the environment you are working in, but also allows content creators the flexibility to work with different canvasses depending on the message they would like to convey.

1x”n” vertical display alignment
Another feature of the Matrox 2.03 SE driver is the 1x"n" vertical display alignment support for all QID graphics cards. This means that you are no longer limited to the typical left to right setup where displays are sitting beside each other, as you may now position displays one over or under the other in a vertical fashion. For example, the image on the right shows the Matrox QID PCIe powering 4 displays stacked one on top of each other in a 1x4 setup.

The image below shows the easy-to-use interface for the 1x”n” feature. To take advantage of the “1x”n”” feature, select the radio button Use advanced Matrox display controls then select the radio button Stretched mode in the Multi-display setup area. In the drop down menu for the stretched mode choose the 1x”n” mode you want. In the Display Settings area, you will then be able to select the display rotation, mode source, display mode and color palette that you desire.
