The Matrox Maevex video over IP solution consists of the Maevex 5100 Series encoder/decoder pair that extends 1080p60 video and audio over a standard IP network. Matrox PowerStream software is used to remotely discover and manage the Maevex network, allowing administrators to adjust multiple stream parameters. Based on a dedicated H.264 encode/decode platform, Maevex Series enables excellent-quality, cost-effective video extension and playback over standard LAN connectivity at user-defined low bit rates for minimal network bandwidth consumption.

The Matrox Maevex Series comes bundled with Matrox PowerStream—a robust software application that enables remote control and management of the entire Maevex network topology. Installed on a network PC, the command & control application supports a variety of features, making Maevex appliances entirely configurable, manageable, and updateable via the network and all from one or more central locations. PowerStream also allows Decoders to be assigned to streams. Maevex administrators can start and stop streams as well as balance image/stream quality and bit rate by managing a variety of encoding and decoding parameters. Matrox Maevex Encoder and Decoder units extend 1080p video, audio and RS-232 control signals over a standard TCP/IP network. The Maevex Encoder captures video and audio from a host PC or another media source and seamlessly extends the
 signals to one or more Maevex Decoders via standard networking equipment, such as switches, routers, and CATx cabling. Maevex Encoder and Decoder units support one-to-one unicast and one-to-many multicast streaming, 
while multiple Decoders may be daisy-chained to create large-scale video distribution networks. Matrox PowerStream manages, configures, and updates Maevex appliances via the network from one or more central locations and allows Decoders to be assigned to streams. Maevex Series supports one-to-many multicast (and unicast, and multi-unicast) video distribution over a standard IP network 
along with a wide variety of aspect ratios and resolutions. Maevex 5150 Encoders and Decoders, compatible with different types of outputs as well as network switches to extend the network, 
enable the distribution of video and audio over standard LAN connectivity. Maevex serves collaborative video wall environments (working with Matrox Mura MPX Series controller boards here) by delivering 
content to the video wall and sharing operator display outputs and applications in a control room, for example. Network administrators can use Matrox PowerStream software to remotely discover and monitor the status of multiple 
Maevex Encoders and Decoders on a subnet (and even those manually added outside the subnet), plus fine-tune 
Maevex encoding and decoding parameters. Matrox PowerStream software allows administrators to easily adjust Maevex encoding parameters, including audio and video bit-rates, 
video encode resolution, frame rate, and even H.264 detailed stream parameters such as Group of Pictures and I, P, and B, QP. Use Matrox PowerStream software to change Maevex Decoder settings, including routing schemes (unicast vs. multicast). Matrox PowerStream software enables variable and independent display configurations at each Maevex decoder; 
Administrators can force a specific resolution and can scale or crop the decoded output independently of the stream 
to allow administrators to fit their output to almost any display. Network administrators can easily choose which source content is output in Matrox PowerStream 
and switch between all available streams at each Maevex decoder. Matrox PowerStream software gives network administrators the flexibility to assign and switch between specific source streams
 at each Maevex Decoder or select multiple Maevex Decoders and assign the same source stream to all devices in that group.
