Matrox Mura™ IPX 4K capture and IP encoder & decoder PCI Express® cards provide OEMs and system builders with best-of-breed hardware and software to enhance their video walls and operator work stations with advanced video processing and networking capabilities. Mura IPX boards are ideal for control rooms, digital signage, AV presentation and other applications requiring high-density capture, encoding, streaming, recording, decoding, displaying, and control.
High-Density H.264 Encoding and Decoding
Mura IPX has been engineered to offer world-class, high-density H.264 encoding and decoding capabilities for use in virtually any application of encoding, decoding, or transcoding. Specifically, Mura IPX aims at the primary applications of high-density H.264 codec processes including:
Resolution encoding and decoding including the compression, decompression, streaming, and recording of a single 8K stream or multiple 4K, Full HD, or SD streams.
Quality encoding and decoding through the encoding support of desktop-grade, high-frequency content. Not requiring color space compression, Mura IPX allows for perfect desktop sharing and recording applications on content as detailed as only one pixel thick.
Number of streams encoding and decoding for numerous applications ranging from decode and display of a high number of streaming IP sources, to the capture and streaming of multiple independent streams of video content at multiple bitrates, resolutions, and quality levels, for further sharing or recording as a unified steam.
All-in-One H.264 Supernode
Mura IPX provides the capability to capture, stream, encode, and decode using H.264 all from with one PCIe® card. Mura IPX series cards are designed to gather and distribute video from multiple IP sources and direct inputs, allowing the aggregation, recording, and delivery of compelling and complementary content as needed to Mura IPX-enabled workstations and compatible receiving hardware and software.
Encoding/Decoding Support for H.264 Universal Standard
Mura IPX supports high-density H.264 level 5.2 encoding and decoding, and thrives on the massive interactivity this produces with 3rd-party hardware and software products also using the most ubiquitous codec on the internet. With this codec collectively accepted on the vast majority of online infrastructures, this codec allows for efficient encoding and decoding at low bitrates and high quality (from SD to 8K) based on user needs.
Dynamic System Scalability
Through the integration of the low-footprint Mura IPX cards, video wall controllers, multiviewers, and personal video walls can be built to the scale required for specific projects. Optimized for performance, Mura IPX provides options to allow greater flexibility in integration while also offering enhanced thermal reliability.
Multi-Source HDMI Inputs for Video Capture
With four Mini HDMI inputs, Mura IPX can capture a wide variety of inputs, dependent on the number of sources and the display resolution required. With only two input sources, Mura IPX can capture and encode two 4K inputs simultaneously. When working with four direct sources, four Full HD inputs can be captured and streamed. Meanwhile Mura IPX can capture and compress up to 100 SD sources.
Enhance Deployed Matrox Products by Adding Mura IPX
When paired with existing Matrox products, Mura IPX contributes to an AV-over-IP ecosystem that is greater than the sum of its individual parts. Tied with Mura MPX capture & display cards, the resulting product has a major impact, allowing management of video walls of up to 56 Full HD sources and 56 Full HD outputs to be encoded and decoded. Enhancing the Mura MPX system by providing dedicated hardware, the Mura IPX brings IP functionality to integrated Mura MPX video wall controller cards.
With Matrox C-Series multi-display graphics cards, Mura IPX provides a low-footprint, low-cost option of enabling an up-to-12-display video wall. Mura IPX with C-Series cards offers more hardware-driven display options with IP-enabled encoding and decoding, to integrate multi-input/output displays anywhere on your network.

Designed to manage multiple high-density input and outputs, Mura IPX boasts the video processing power required to seamlessly integrate these pieces into a cohesive narrative.
Optimized to provide robust video processing functions, such as crop, rotation, flip, mirror, alpha blend, and color key, Mura IPX provides a canvas and comprehensive video toolset. Through this functionality, inputs can be adjusted to suit the exact output needs of both in-person users and the remote audience.
Based on Matrox core technology, Mura IPX dedicates power to these functions, eliminating the processing time required by software video processing, and provides smoother, high-fidelity, post-production effects.
Easy-to-Use Video Wall Management Software
With IP enabled, Mura IPX has multiple software control options for both local and remote management of the hardware. With a robust software support and upgrade program, Matrox MuraControl™ for Windows® and MuraControl for iPad®, like other Matrox products, are regularly updated and improved for enhanced functionality in evolving use situations.
Providing a comprehensive set of video wall control functions, MuraControl for Windows allows stream setup and administration as well as management functions related to layout creation, saving, import, and export. Within the layout setup, streams and windows can be resized, positioned, cropped, scaled, and labeled, blended, and color-keyed to create compelling visual stories that can be live previewed even before they reach the hardware displays.
|The free MuraControl for iPad app alternatively offers lighter drag-and-drop functionality that can be taken with you where you need it. Available for download from the Apple® App Store, the iPad software serves as a great mobile companion to MuraControl for Windows for remote control of your video wall, anywhere, with just the touch of a finger.||

When ultimate customization is required, Matrox has made various APIs available to integrators who need control of functionality down to the smallest detail. Alternative software control options can be created using available APIs and software development kits that also protect past investments in Matrox technology via backwards compatibility and future ones through long product life cycles.
With MicrosoftDirectShow® support, existing applications using DirectShow filters can capture, decode, and encode/stream video. The Matrox Tablet SDK brings functionality to Android tablets and enhances control available on iPad.
The Network API allows for command-level control that can be used through Telnet, RS-232, and HTTP/HTTPS. The Matrox VWLib and DWC C/C++-based APIs can be used to build custom capture, streaming, and display video wall applications.

By enabling the Mura IPX to talk with other devices over the LAN, Matrox has extended the ability of video walls from a group of stationary displays to a networked hub of interconnected, interactive monitors. IP enabling means that not only can Mura IPX receive and decode IP streams, but it can stream encoded video, receivable on other Mura IPX-enabled devices, on Matrox Maevex H.264 decoders, and third-party H.264 hardware and software decoders. In essence, every device on your network can take part in the larger story being told through Mura IPX.
Adjustable Color Depth & Pixel Transfer Formats
Offering the user the flexibility to control the level of color detail required, Mura IPX allows RGB 8:8:8 & RGB 10:10:10, as well as 8-bit and 10-bit per component YUV color. This means Mura IPX delivers deep 30-bit color, as well as 24-bit true color based on your needs.
Depending on the scenario, it may be advisable to subsample color to save bandwidth. Offering full 4:4:4 color to preserve full-color depth, Mura IPX also permits 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 subsampling to reduce bandwidth load where users will not be affected by the reduction in color detail.
