Extio remote graphics units among host of Matrox multi-display products certified for Yokogawa distributed control systems

"Industrial graphics used in process automation are mainly 2D and not as demanding as some 3D intensive applications can be," says Steve Lazok, Technical Solutions, Support Manager, Yokogawa Corp. of America. "However, industrial graphics are complex and demanding in many other ways. Primarily, the image must always be accessible and responsive. It must also support high resolutions in different aspect ratios and be redrawn quickly without any flickering, lagging or artifacts. This must all be achievable on one–or multiple–monitors powered from a single PC. For the process operator, the image is his or her only window to the highly critical process. With Matrox Extio™ multi-display RGUs, the user interface of the computer–keyboard, mouse, audio peripherals and graphics hardware–can be separated from the rest of the computer by up to 820 ft (250m) of fiber optic cable. Matrox Extio RGUs support up to four digital or analog monitors at resolutions of up to 1920x1200 per display, or up to 2 dual-link digital monitors at the native resolution of 2560x1600. Extio RGUs feature passive (fanless) cooling and are compatible with the PCI, PCI-X or PCIe slots in the host system.
