Matrox Set to Kick-Off AVIXA-accredited AV-over-IP Training Program

Matrox to develop Matrox MED Series technology for Planar's Dome EX line of 10-bit medical displays

Latest bundle produces higher resolution and increased shades of gray for more accurate diagnosis


Montreal, Canada, June 7, 2007— Matrox Graphics Inc., the leading manufacturer of professional graphics solutions, today announced that Planar Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in specialty display solutions, will bundle Matrox MED™ Series 10-bit display controller boards with its Dome EX line of diagnostic displays. This latest bundle takes advantage of the Dome EX displays' ability to produce higher resolution and increased shades of gray output, giving medical imaging professionals the ability to more fully visualize the data captured by modern medical scanning devices

Matrox was selected to produce a 10-bit display controller board for the Dome EX grayscale display products that could deliver up to 1,024 calibrated shades of gray. Unlike other LCD displays only capable of displaying up to 256 gray shades, Dome EX display technology, combine with the Matrox MED Series 10-bit display controller board, is able to process and display higher bit-depths, thereby producing more image data for more accurate diagnosis.

Matrox MED Series display controller boards, including the Matrox MED2mp, Matrox MED3mp, Matrox MED4mp and Matrox MED5mp, supports landscape and portrait modes, and brings advanced functionality and flexibility to the medical imaging market with extensive multi-monitor support, pristine image quality, and robust drivers. In addition, Matrox RAD Series AGP, PCI and PCI Express display controller boards expand the medical imaging product line with dual output support of up to three MP digital displays. Both Matrox MED and Matrox RAD Series boards are equipped with Hardware Pivot for smooth and accelerated portrait image displays, and are capable of driving various combinations of grayscale and color displays in stretched or independent modes.

Designed for use by clinicians for the review of images captured by advanced digital initiatives, the Planar Dome EX displays and Matrox MED Series bundle provides the high fidelity image quality and improved performance required by medical imaging professionals.
