Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital SE Multi-display Adapter Review

Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital SE Multi-display Adapter Review

“Using 3 or more displays on a single desktop PC is a breeze nowadays, thanks to the efforts of the three main GPU vendors. The situation is different on the mobile side, however, and that’s where Matrox, with its TripleHead2Go series comes into play.”

“Today, I use a TripleHead2Go Digital SE as a kind of base station at home. My three monitors are connected to my PC, but their secondary connectors run to the TripleHead2Go. This in turn gets connected to my Mac via its Thunderbolt port. This allows me to use my personal monitors when working out of my home office and when needed, quickly return to mobility by disconnecting a single Thunderbolt adapter. It’s that simple.”

“When we first reported on the Matrox TripleHead2Go, the idea of gaming with three monitors was still new to this editor. I was drawn to the product for this single function. It was only after using it for my day-to-day that I learned the true value of utilizing multiple monitors… a lesson that I have applied to my career to great effect. There isn’t a workstation or notebook in my building now that doesn’t connect to at least two monitors. Products like the TripleHead2Go, and its smaller brother the DualHead2Go, allow the use of many monitors from a single DisplayPort (or in my case Thunderbolt) port on a notebook. Retailing for around $250 USD, the TripleHead2Go is a valuable addition for those looking to increase productivity and work flow by adding a second or third monitor to their notebook.”

Geekanoids reviews TripleHead2Go Digital SE

"What I'm really impressed with about this is how flawlessly [TripleHead2Go Digital SE] works and also about the actual construction. I love the fact that this has got an industrial sort of design to it. It looks very neat and it is a very, very compact unit."

"The TripleHead2Go Digital SE Edition really is worthwhile purchasing"

"I think that this is a really good product and it just works really well for me. I didn't find there was any lag or anything at all to worry about with the TripleHead2Go."

Three displays being driven from something like your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro really does make it a worthy product and one of the better products I've tested for this sort of solution."

ITespresso.es reviews TripleHead2Go Digital SE

"TripleHead2Go Digital SE is the latest version of its great Graphics eXpansion Modules. Connect 3 monitors 1920 x 1080 creating a giant monitor 5760 x 1080, which will act as a single monitor and only require a connection to your computer."

"Thanks to its software the possibilities are almost endless, and you can physically place the screens as you want, take into account the edges and you can even virtually split screens in cells that allow a very versatile management of applications."

"Personally I think this is the most efficient and simplest way to configure a multi-screen system that exists on the market at this price, both when handling panoramic applications as with their ability to use screens independently."

“The ability to connect three DVI monitors at standard resolutions to create a large desktop is much cheaper than purchasing a monitor with a similar resolution. For example the 27-inch monitor from Apple (2560 x 1440 dots) costs 1,024 Euros, while we could set up a desktop of 4080 x 768 with three widescreen monitors for about 600 Euros.”

The Rise of Environmental Projection in HOW

TripleHead2Go for Houses of Worship

“The equipment required to run environmental projection depends on the size of the room and how much ambient light a room has (large spaces with plain walls are best, spaces with lots of windows might not work), but typically two to three projectors between 5,000 and 10,000 lumens are the starting point. Multiscreen solutions like the Matrox TripleHead2Go (McElroy’s tool of choice) split and optimize images through multiple projectors, and then there’s the software; Renewed Vision’s ProPresenter, operable on Mac or PC, is the industry standard but even PowerPoint can do the trick (the advantage of a program like ProPresenter, Ware’s solution of choice, is that it can map out spaces that should not be projected on to, like a window, a projection screen or pulpit, for example).”

Overclockers Club gives TripleHead2Go Digital SE OCC Gold Award

"Working and gaming with the Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital SE Multi-Display Adapter was a very pleasant experience. The device just screams quality; no cheap plastic is involved and the finish is almost perfect. Connecting and setting up the Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital SE was straight forward; all you need to do is follow the four steps on the back of the box and then install the Matrox PowerDesk software. The result is up to three extra monitors or projectors connected and looking great (six if you have a second DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort handy to connect another TripleHead2Go Digital SE device!). The image quality is on the same standard as the great build quality: very clear, vibrant, and without any distortion. The Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital SE is a small device with huge potential. Laptop users will find it a very convenient—and affordable—way to gain that extra screen real estate without the need to invest in a desktop system."

Connect 3 Displays to 1 PC with the Matrox TripleHead2Go Adapter

CIO

"The TripleHead2Go makes it possible for laptops to be used with multiple external displays, and its use of the connected computer's GPU allows for exceptionally smooth performance. And because it's an external adapter, TripleHead2Go eliminates the need to meddle with its insides to install an additional graphics card, for example."

"The TripleHead2Go DP Edition is the latest in a line of GXMs made by Matrox, and is supported by a strong software suite. It has bezel-management capabilities to compensate for gaps in the extended display created by the bezesl of monitors. I particularly like how the Matrox PowerDesk software allows for invisible demarcations to be made over the various displays; when maximized, application windows snap to fill up the virtual lines, which can span multiple monitors. The device works with PCs and Macs, and it is also compatible with MacBook Pro laptops with the new Thunderbolt port."

"It's just as simple to setup and configure as the previous GXM units from Matrox, and it comes in a slightly smaller form factor."

Matrox TripleHead2Go reviewed

InAVate Image

“Having high resolution and ultra-wide outputs from laptops and PCs is very much a requirement of our industry. We first came across the TipleHead2Go product when we had the need to span Apple Keynote across a widescreen projection. Apple Keynote doesn’t have the ability to span on multiple outputs so the product provided a very straightforward way of getting good, high resolution Apple Keynote up on a screen.”

“We have loads of different options for this kind of application but I would say that the TripleHead2Go has become the standard solution in the AV industry for this kind of output. There are loads of solutions and each has their own benefit but price is always a big consideration.

The TripleHead2Go is a very affordable solution. We generally use it for projections. A lot of events we run are soft-edging three HD projectors together. So it’s often the solution there.”

“You can just throw it in your bag and take it with you. It’s a huge benefit. I can think of plenty of times when I’ve gone to run a demonstration or do a rehearsal with a client in their premises and it’s just a question of laptop and a TripleHead2Go in your bag.

We don’t need a server configured with mulithead output cards. You don’t want to be carting that about. The portability of the TripleHead2Go is fantastic.

I have also found it to be extremely reliable which is a massive consideration as we are out on the road a lot. We have about six units in total and I don’t think we’ve ever had an issue with any of them. And we’re talking about industrial usage here. The units aren’t just set up at home on a desk and left there.

The fact it offers DVI as well as analogue is great. It’s professional grade and it doesn’t distort the pixels. It’s pixel accurate it doesn’t do any scaling or add or drop pixels.”

“Recently we looked after a three screen projection for a photography exhibition. Content ran in a loop and we used the TripleHead2Go and it was a great solution. The content was built in Apple Keynote and ran 24 hours a day for a couple of weeks.

It was the first time we’d tested the product in constant use and it performed very well.”

Teens in Tech Reviews Matrox TripleHead2Go DP Edition

"I can not get enough monitors — just when you think I've had enough, I always want to add more. I truly believe in the theory that the more monitors you have, the more productive you are. One of my favorite companies that support this cause is Matrox.

Their latest masterpiece is the Matrox TripleHead2Go DP Edition, an external multi-display adapter that adds up to three monitors to your laptop or desktop. Through the TripleHead2Go, I've been able to connect three DVI monitors to my 15" MacBook Pro, at resolutions up to 1360x768."

"And, if you're a PC gamer, you'll love this device. Being able to play FPS and racing games across three monitors at resolutions of 1920x1080 is flat out awesome."

"In your office, you may have many needs for your computer. You may like to constantly monitor a site, social media or other relative content during the day. At the same time, you need to email, create documents and other "work" related tasks. Or you may like an additional monitor just to view media on. With the TripleHead2Go, you can have it all, at the same time. Once hooked up, you never have to worry about the configuration. It is a true plug-n-play device."

"In my studio I use ProTools as my recording format. Using a TripleHead2Go the three bottom screens allow me to stretch out and relax my workflow. Each screen offers functions that would have resulted in stacking windows on top of windows. I get the distinct benefit of seeing all my data in one sweeping glance."

"All work and NO PLAY make for a dull environment. What do I do to relax? I learn how to fly. This picture shows my real, genuine passion. Flying. Yes, I have even taking the controls of the real thing when I get the chance. You can notice that my cockpit accurately stretches across the screens to provide a realistic wide landscape viewpoint."

"If you're like me, and your workflow depends on having everything you need in one convenient place the TripleHead2Go Digital Edition is for you. By providing a larger landscape, this handy device will increase your performance in every way imaginable. Once you sit behind this device, you'll never know how you can do without it. Your work will be easily and logistically laid out before you offering time savings and ease of use. If you need to have access to your ever demanding social networks, you'll love having access to it without having to change screens. "Virtual environments have been made an accessible and practical place to prepare for real life on the front line thanks to the latest graphics technologies available today. Multi-display setups, enabled through the use of multi-display adapters, are especially vital here. Triple-display adapter solutions, like the Matrox TripleHead2Go, are ideal because of the resulting degree to which the user's peripheral vision is increased. "Multi-screen monitors are pretty much the standard now in professional practices. But while most new desktop PCs and Macs now come with support for two monitors, they don't always support more than that. If your primary workstation is a laptop, adding multiple monitors can seem even trickier. "Things had their place again, just like my old strata-geographic filing system did on my paper-covered desk of a few decades ago. I had some idea of where things were again - I had a spatial awareness of the information that threatens to overwhelm me at any given time, and if the desktop analogy really is relevant (it is), I had a big desk again, and a place for everything."

Trusted Reviews
"Matrox should be congratulated on the TripleHead2Go Digital Edition. It improves on the analogue version in several key ways, adding DVI for a sharper image, more convenient USB power, and Bezel Management to really improve realism in games."

AVSIM
"I've seen other versions of multi-screen set-ups, especially for flight simming, but most of these required multiple monitors as well as multiple PC's. With the price of good monitors dropping on a monthly basis, picking up a digital TH2G for just over $300 is a good investment, in my opinion."

bit-tech.net
"After playing an hour of F.E.A.R., I was suitably chilled by the experience of being able to see so much more of the game. [...]. I've spent many hours playing this game on a 30" screen and I have to say I think I enjoyed playing the game more on the Matrox TripleHead2Go [Digital Edition] with three 19" screens than I ever have before and, although you don't have the same number of pixels in height, the increased FOV makes for a superb experience."

Jon Peddie Research
"The bottom line on all of this is we are going to be able to do more by seeing more for not a lot of money. The unit [TripleHead2Go Digital Edition] sells for a mere $329 and should be available by the time you read this."

"In closing I can safely say that if you would like to have a more realistic image, have a few monitors to spare and don't mind the few disadvantages such as losing 2D panels (or resizing them), and don't want to tinker with other software or buy extra graphics cards, then the Matrox TripleHead2Go [Digital Edition] is the solution for you!!! I love it!"

The Rise of Environmental Projection in HOW

Commercial Integrator
By Aaron Stern

Geek Tech Live Reviews Matrox TripleHead2Go
Geek Tech Live 111 Matrox TripleHead2Go

"I have had the opportunity to test out and set up a Matrox Triplehead2Go unit and let me tell you it rocks the ever loving Eye Holes of Triple Monitor Goodness!"

"Larger Monitors give you more screen real estate and a very large monitor of 30" would be great but could be costly and might still not get you the size you need or want. That's where Matrox comes in. You can take 3 Monitors with the [TripleHead2Go] and [DualHead2Go] with the double (duh) and create your very own JumboTron of sorts for usually a little less than one big monitor. I was able to hook together three 22" monitors with a native resolution of 1920x1080 for a jaw dropping 5760x1080 Massive monitor!"

The CPA Technology Advisor
10 Specialty Tech Vendors To Put To The Test
"Multi-screen monitors are pretty much the standard now in professional practices. But while most new desktop PCs and Macs now come with support for two monitors, they don't always support more than that. If your primary workstation is a laptop, adding multiple monitors can seem even trickier. Matrox makes it simple, though, providing the DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go systems that simply plug into each monitor and into the computer. No more opening up a PC box to change video cards or worrying about complex hardware requirements. Matrox makes adding multiple monitors easy."

Church Production Magazine
"We found a device called the Matrox TripleHead2Go. It basically allows us to take an output from our computer and instead of a 1280 x 720 palette, create a 3240 x 720 palette. So we're actually able to create graphics that are three screens wide. Now that "center-piece video-LED-wall-looking thing" is part of a three wide graphic element that we're able to project on."

"Clear channel set up 42 computers throughout Oslo airport, each connected to a Matrox TripleHead2Go Graphics eXpansion Module outputting to three 40" monitors. An external box, the TripleHead2Go was simple to install and allowed the total number of computer systems required for this project to be reduced."

"Matrox GXMs—namely the DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go product lines—harness the power of a graphics processing unit (GPU) inside a laptop or PC enabling CAD professionals to run CAD applications on up to three external monitors—with full hardware acceleration on each display."

"The usability and productivity advantages of dual-monitor desktop setups are well-known; simply having more screen real estate means you can display larger, longer timelines, or show a more detailed clip bin information area, or have more than one program's windows wide open."
