Matrox technology for 10-bit displays supported in Cedara I-ReadMammo
Matrox and Cedara's joint development effort aims to improve quality of diagnostic tools available to digital mammography professionals
Montreal, Canada, November 8, 2007— Matrox Graphics Inc., the leading manufacturer of professional graphics solutions, today announced that Cedara Software is using Matrox 10-bit MED™ Series display controller boards to develop a 10-bit version of the Cedara I-ReadMammo™ 6.2 mammography software. Cedara's work-in-progress 10-bit I-ReadMammo application will be able to display images with up to 1,024 simultaneous levels of gray, when combined with a Matrox 10-bit board and 10-bit displays. This feature provides medical professionals with a more detailed image for more accurate diagnoses.
As a leader in 10-bit technology, Matrox understands that medical imaging sectors such as mammography benefit from the more complete image data provided by 10-bit solutions. Using Cedara's 10-bit I-ReadMammo 6.2 software, radiologists and medical imaging professionals will be able to see a greater number of just noticeable differences (JNDs), instead of being limited to the usual 256 simultaneous shades of gray supported by other software and display applications with lesser bit-depths.
"Matrox has been deploying 10-bit display controller boards for many years," says George Rigas, business development manager for medical imaging, Matrox Graphics, Inc. "Using our 10-bit solutions with Cedara's 10-bit enabled I-ReadMammo software, medical imaging professionals will have more grayscale shades on their mammography images to help them in the accuracy of their diagnosis."
Cedara I-ReadMammo is a soft-copy reading workstation designed specifically for the complex breast imaging workflow, enabling radiologists to optimize their reading speed to provide high quality patient care. Cedara I-ReadMammo was designed to minimize frustration in moving to a digital format by eliminating workstation duplication, providing specialized tools similar to those used with film and enabling customization to optimize reading workflow.
"Cedara Software has always been at the leading edge of imaging technology in order to help our OEM and imaging company customers get the right solutions to their end user customers," says Peter Bascom, VP Engineering and Product Management, Cedara Software. The Matrox 10-bit display controller board is an important accompaniment to our imaging software solutions."
Matrox MED Series 10-bit display controller boards support dual displays up to 5MP each in landscape and/or portrait modes, bringing advanced functionality and flexibility to the medical imaging market with pristine image quality and robust drivers.
